My Wish List

I like to browse online for things while planning my spaces to get a theme or look in mind. I will save my favorite items on a Wish List and then decided which ones to actually purchase at the time of the project and which ones to save as a reward for maintaining the space later. This also helps me to save money initially because I am not spending my cash all at once.

When we started to redo the dining room we cleared it out, cleaned it, organized what we were keeping in there and planned our style for the room. Little by little it is evolving into our vision. Currently, we have replaced our yellow oval table with seating for 6 with a dark wood table with seating up to 10 and found armchairs for the head of the table. We found both items at our local Thrifty Shopper for $100! We spent $50 on the table and a few weeks later we found the chairs for $25 each. When shopping at second-hand places check back often and if you can find out their delivery days and times try to be the first there. Furniture especially can go quickly. Our set doesn’t quite match but we are very happy with how it looks and amount of money spent/saved.

Since we almost doubled our seating capacity we needed new tablecloths also. We didn’t buy these right away. I waited for a sale and purchased two so one could be on the table at all times while the other was being washed. Washing table linens happens a lot around here even with a protective cover. Having a dozen people over for family dinners once a week plus the regular use from my Goof Troop means a lot of traffic and chances for oopsies. My choices were neutral in color but have a wink to pizzaz with shimmer or a small amount of metallic accent. They’re perfect for us. I bought the Lusture Metallic tablecloth by Benson Mills in Ivory and a second cover also by Benson Mills in Stone on Amazon for roughly $15 each. The room is really taking shape and once my dad is home to help us we plan on converting a tv stand into a breakfast bar that will offer even more seating between kitchen and dining. Most likely this will become The Kids Table.

Now we are starting to clean out and organize the kid’s bedrooms. With everyone teenagers now, it is time to admit they are growing up and need more mature rooms and their own style in their spaces. To stay on budget I make a Wish List they can choose from. For example, Rylie Beth needs a desk for studying, art and sewing. What I do is go on to Amazon and look for desk I feel are suitable and in our price range, then she can pick from there. We also frequent thrift stores for desk we can paint and decorate if needed. Finding something under budget means saving money or being able to splurge on something else. Currently she is trying to decide between
